ConDamned planning – 16 dec meeting

Twee KlaverenYesterday evening eTijs, aTijs, IJdo and I had a fruitful planning session at the Twee Klaveren in Amsterdam. The accomodation looks more than perfect if you ask me.

I’ve created a Basecamp project for us to keep all our to-do lists in etc. Basically it’s a projectmanagement tool. Those of you who we’ve bombarded as crew (eTijs, aTijs, IJdo, me, Brenda, Kelly(?)) already have received an invitation.

We talked about a lot of stuff, from dayplanning and muster to finances and contingency plans. And oh, yeah, promotion! We’ve registered www.condamned.nl haha – which to our great surprise was still available.

I’ll crosspost this on the UK forum as well, so that pple know that we’re still underway and that things are happening.

aTijs sent me pics of the venue, so I’ll upload them here!

I’m also uploading a video, but that’ll have to be added later. I think we can easily push tables together to create larger tables right?

UK Role Players Forum

Happy times :)

Dave is granting us our own little sub-forum on UK Roleplayers. Anyway, for that we need a little blurb to describe who we are. Something like: “The Dutch, invading your cons since 1667″ or maybe something less pretentious, like “A forum for the Dutch Invaders and friends.”

Fleshing out The Dutch Invaders

During dinner this weekend, Brenda, IJdo and I brainstormed a little on our Dutch Invaders club and how we could make us a little more “professional” so to speak. We’ve been attending the English cons for several years now and we’re seen as a coherent group – so why not make that more official?

Hence this site – we found out it was still available and registered it on the spot (from the restaurant with my iPad haha – talk about mobility …). We’re looking into several other things too:

- custom made dice! Right now we’re bickering about the colors hehe
- a new logo, for which the brainstorm has progressed really far. I hope I can get cracking at Photoshop somewhere this week
Another thing we’re looking into are venues for “WendyCon”. Which proves to be extremely difficult. Or rather, extremely expensive. What I’ve seen so far ranges in the 1000 euro’s and up for 20-30 people, and that’s without catering.

It might simply not be doable to organise a friendly con with so many people here in the Netherlands, unless we start asking an entrance fee. And that would make it 1) too official for a first-time friendly con and 2) too expensive for most pple from abroad.

We might simply be forced to do this con on an invitation-only base to make sure pple actually show up and to put a cap on it for this first time. Then maybe we can do it from one of our homes or in a pub nearby with pple sleeping over. Any thoughts on the matter are helpful!
